A multitude of air journeys have been grounded across the U.S. as communities in the Northeast hastily make ready for a severe snowstorm that meteorologists predict will arrive on Sunday.
The aggregate of impacted flights exceeded 7,000 by 6 a.m., comprising 6,456 U.S. flights that were grounded and a further 547 domestic flights experiencing hold-ups up until Tuesday.
Jetblue, American Airlines, Delta, Southwest, and United have declared their intention to forgo alteration and annulment charges prior to the impending tempest, due to the anticipated disruption to journeys at many of the Northeast’s principal aviation centers.
The nor’easter is predicted to deliver snow accumulations exceeding a foot across segments of the Northeastern region, commencing on Sunday, as reported by FOX Weather.

Severe snowstorm advisories are active for New York City and coastal New Jersey, whereas cold-weather tempest alerts and cautions are valid for Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore.
The most substantial snowfall is set to commence on Sunday evening, with prospective snow accumulations from Sunday evening through Monday reaching over 18–24 inches for New York City, Philadelphia, and Boston, according to FOX Weather.

The National Weather Service cautioned that the tempest might deliver wind bursts reaching speeds of 55 miles per hour, generating zero-visibility circumstances that “will render journeys perilous and possibly fatal.”

Meteorologists further stated that the “potent gales, coupled with the mass of dense, moist snow, are highly probable to cause widespread to copious electricity interruptions.”
