Numerous American urban centers are poised to witness substantial subsurface mobility improvements, spearheaded by billionaire Elon Musk’s firm, The Boring Company (TBC).
On Tuesday, an announcement on X revealed that the engineering enterprise had disclosed the victors of its countrywide “Tunnel Vision Challenge,” designating New Orleans, Louisiana, and Dallas, Texas, as potential locations for novel transit networks.
“Our gratitude goes out once more to all who took part — your zeal and optimistic outlook proved to be a source of great inspiration for the TBC crew,” the firm stated.
Baltimore, Maryland, was originally identified as a victor; however, TBC subsequently declared on Wednesday that the initiative would not proceed after preliminary talks.

The subsequent stage will entail cooperation with municipal authorities and oversight bodies, alongside subsurface explorations aimed at ascertaining viability.
A Wednesday communiqué from TBC offered further specifics regarding its preliminary talks with city officials in both Dallas and New Orleans, indicating that both suggested initiatives experienced “excellent preliminary sessions.”
Two more urban centers — Hendersonville, Tennessee, and San Antonio, Texas — are still being evaluated while deliberations persist.

This competition, commencing in January, solicited submissions for a subterranean passage design spanning one mile, where the victorious design was assured a complimentary construction.
Independently, TBC was recently chosen to commence discussions regarding a suggested subsurface transportation network linking Universal Orlando’s theme parks.
The firm’s most prominent endeavor involves the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) Loop, which commenced operations in 2021 following approximately twelve months of building work.
