A five-year agreement has been obtained by Babcock from the UK Ministry of Defence for the oversight and maintenance of its civilian vehicle fleet, comprising cars, vans, and trucks, the firm announced.

Referred to as Phoenix 3, this accord carries an approximate worth of £60 million and offers opportunities for prolongation by as many as five more years. This arrangement builds upon Babcock’s earlier provision of comparable support under the Phoenix 2 accord since 2016. It is foreseen that this accolade will preserve roughly 60 positions throughout the firm’s various operations.

As part of the agreement, Babcock shall supervise the acquisition and purchasing of vehicles, the administration of servicing, upkeep, and rectifications, along with incident resolution. Furthermore, it will furnish a customized Fleet Management Information System (FMIS), designed to administer the MOD’s civilian vehicles throughout domestic and international activities, as disclosed by the firm.

Kate Robinson, Babcock’s Managing Director for Through Life Equipment Support, commented: “Delivering unwavering assistance for the MOD’s civilian vehicle contingent guarantees the preservation of the necessary agility and preparedness for both domestic and foreign deployments. As a reliable collaborator, we are committed to upholding the civilian vehicle capacity via the Phoenix 3 agreement.”

Rear Admiral Paul Murphy, who serves as Director Major Programmes at Defence Support, further remarked: “The Defence’s civilian vehicle fleet stands as a vital facilitator for ongoing, emergency, and specialized missions, in addition to standard daily activities across all divisions. The granting of the fresh Phoenix 3 agreement ensures this capacity for times to come and updates the administration of the Defence’s civilian vehicle array. I desire to applaud the cooperative methodology amongst Defence Support and the Military Commands which has brought about this favorable result for Defence.”

The MOD’s civilian vehicle contingent assists with a broad spectrum of everyday and mission-critical endeavors, and this fresh agreement aims to yield greater effectiveness via consolidated oversight and larger-scale cost savings, as per the firm’s statement.
