The Defence Department has released a decade-long analysis of instructional operations at the Land Regional Hub Germany, detailing the quantity of field training drills conducted at the facility each year.
These statistics were disclosed in response to a formal parliamentary inquiry from MP James Cartlidge, who had sought information on how many drills had been carried out at the hub over the preceding ten fiscal years. In his rejoinder, Defence Minister Al Carns elucidated that these drills are documented by calendar year rather than financial year.
Based on the provided data, 32 field training drills were staged at the Land Regional Hub Germany in 2016. This figure declined to 26 in 2017 and 22 in 2018. In 2019, the overall count reduced to 11 drills. The minimum number recorded within the ten-year span occurred in 2020, when only five drills were noted. Activity expanded to eight drills in 2021, subsequently climbing to 11 in 2022 and 12 in 2023.
In 2024, the number of drills ascended to 16, and in 2025, the total reached 23. This signifies the highest annual figure observed since 2017, though still below the 2016 maximum. Overall, the statistics illustrate a reduction in drill quantities between 2016 and 2020, followed by a steady and continuous rise through to 2025. The Land Regional Hub Germany consistently stages a regular programme of British field training drills, with over four times as many drills conducted in 2025 as in 2020.
