A grand jury in Fort Bend County, Texas, opted not to indict on Monday in the matter concerning one-time NBA guard Patrick Beverley, who was detained last autumn on a serious assault accusation stemming from an occurrence authorities labeled a “family violence” incident.
The grand jury’s finding of insufficient proof to proceed to a court hearing against Beverley effectively concludes the legal proceedings.
In a declaration, Beverley’s legal representatives, Rusty Hardin and Letitia Quinones-Hollins, stated: “Patrick wishes to convey to all that he would not inflict any injury upon his sister and is immensely appreciative that the grand jury acknowledged this by their decision not to indict.” They added, “He is thankful for all who offered prayers and backing throughout this period. He is pleased that the system functioned appropriately, and his aspiration is that with these accusations now dismissed, his good name and standing shall be reestablished.”
Beverley, aged 37, was apprehended that November at a residence in Rosharon, Texas. Subsequently, he shared an anonymous declaration on social platforms asserting he had unforeseenly discovered his underage sister unchaperoned with an adult male of 18 years.
The communique articulated, “He was naturally apprehensive, like any sibling would be concerning his sister. Nevertheless, we dispute the sequence of events as depicted and eagerly await the occasion to discuss this in legal proceedings.”
Subsequent to the grand jury’s Monday ruling, Beverley shared this message: “I am profoundly appreciative for all sympathies and supplications for the family. We are obliged to safeguard our children, particularly our female offspring. This trying experience has genuinely fortified our kin. I extend gratitude for your ongoing backing and intercessions.”
Beverley most recently competed in the NBA for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024. Throughout his dozen-year tenure, he had earlier been part of the Houston Rockets, the LA Clippers, and multiple other franchises.
