Bryan Hodgson, currently with South Florida, is poised to become Providence’s next men’s basketball coach, according to sources verified by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Thamel’s sources disclosed that Hodgson has already inked an agreement with Providence, which is anticipated to formally declare his appointment in the near future.
For Hodgson, Providence will represent his third institution in as many seasons. He had recently guided South Florida to a 25-9 tally, earning their initial NCAA tournament showing since 2012. The American Conference champion Bulls, however, fell to Louisville on Thursday in their inaugural NCAA tournament contest.
At 38 years old, Hodgson commenced his tenure at South Florida after two stints as the top strategist for Arkansas State. He is now set to assume leadership of a Providence program, which has experienced consecutive unsuccessful campaigns under Kim English, dismissed earlier this month.
On Sunday, CBS Sports was the first to disclose Providence’s intention to appoint Hodgson.
