JUPITER, Fla. — Konnor Griffin, widely acknowledged as baseball’s premier talent, launched his third long ball of the spring during the initial inning of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ encounter with the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.
At 19 years old, Griffin, esteemed as ESPN’s leading prospect, commenced the game at shortstop for the Pirates and sent a two-run blast flying off Kyle Leahy, thereby furnishing Pittsburgh with a 2-0 advantage.
Griffin had previously connected for a pair of round-trippers when facing the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday.
The Pirates selected Griffin in the primary draft round back in 2024. During the preceding year, he advanced to Double-A, achieving a .337 batting average coupled with a .960 OPS across 21 appearances for Altoona.
