ATLANTA — The Hawks are gearing up for a somewhat distinctive event scheduled for March 16: They intend to honor Magic City, Atlanta’s renowned adult entertainment venue.
In observance of this “legendary cultural landmark,” the Hawks are organizing an evening featuring delectable food – notably, the venue’s celebrated lemon pepper wings – alongside vibrant music and unique memorabilia.
The team they’ll face on that evening? Naturally, it’s the Orlando Magic.
Jami Gertz, the Hawks’ main proprietor, filmmaker, and actor, remarked, “This partnership and themed evening holds profound importance for me, following all the effort we invested in producing ‘Magic City: An American Fantasy.’ The emblematic Atlanta establishment has exerted such a remarkable influence on our metropolis and its distinctive heritage.”
Gertz served as a co-producer for a five-part STARZ documentary series, “Magic City: An American Fantasy,” which delved into the venue’s past and its significant position within both hip-hop and Black culture. Furthermore, the Hawks are featuring Atlanta native T.I. to deliver a halftime performance. A unique live pre-game podcast session, discussing the club and the influence it exerts on music, culture, and sports, is also scheduled.
Magic City will be offering a dual selection of the lemon pepper wings, specifically, the variety honored for ex-Hawks defensive player Lou Williams.
T.I. stated: “We doin’ this one for the city … Magic City.”
