LOS ANGELES — UCLA maintained its lead throughout, thwarting Oklahoma State’s sole offensive surge in the third quarter. The top-ranked Bruins secured an 87-68 victory Monday evening, ensuring their advance to the Sweet 16 of March Madness for the fourth successive year.
Lauren Betts posted a career-best 35 points, hitting 15 of 19 shots, along with nine rebounds for the Bruins (33-1). They boasted a 25-point advantage during the initial half at Pauley Pavilion, where Dwyane Wade and his spouse Gabrielle Union were in attendance with their 7-year-old child.

Aiming for another journey to the Final Four, the Bruins progressed to face fourth-seeded Minnesota (24-10) in a contest between Big Ten rivals Friday in Sacramento.
UCLA’s 53-point triumph against Cal Baptist in the initial stage marked the most substantial postseason success in program history. The Bruins routinely overwhelmed adversaries in the regular season as well.
Achol Akot registered 23 points for the Cowgirls prior to exiting due to fouls with 24 seconds left on the clock. Jadyn Wooten contributed an additional 18 points and six assists.
The Cowgirls mounted their sole significant offensive drive at the commencement of the third quarter, having been down by 20 at the midway point. Wooten tallied six points during a 9-0 burst that narrowed their disadvantage to 52-39.
However, Betts swiftly halted their momentum. She accounted for 10 of UCLA’s concluding 12 points in the period, and the Bruins entered the fourth period with a 64-47 lead. Betts registered an additional 10 points in the fourth, prompting UCLA fans to be on their feet for the concluding moments.
Gianna Kneepkens also provided 15 points, and Kiki Rice and Gabriela Jaquez chipped in with 10 each for the Bruins.
The Bruins caught the Cowgirls off guard at the outset of the match, tallying the initial nine points and quickly establishing a 21-6 advantage following the first period, when the Cowgirls committed six turnovers and failed on 14 of 16 shot attempts.
UCLA commenced the second quarter with an 18-8 surge, featuring nine consecutive points. When the Bruins failed on close-range attempts near the basket, Betts secured offensive boards and converted them into points.
