The reigning champions, Paris Saint-Germain, have progressed to the Champions League’s round of 16, though they faced a demanding task from 10-player Monaco this evening at the Parc des Princes.
Following their 3-2 victory in the initial leg within the principality, this fixture appeared to be a straightforward assignment for PSG, a club comfortably positioned seven ranks and twenty points ahead of Monaco in the Ligue 1 standings.
Nevertheless, Luis Enrique’s squad seemed to lack creative spark for a significant portion of the evening, leading Monaco to lament their inability to seize their chances.
The exceptional Maghnes Akliouche granted the visiting team the lead just before the interval, slotting it in after Mamadou Coulibaly had gently set up the ball into his path.
Sébastien Pocognoli’s squad had fully earned their advantage, but the contest – and the overall fixture – took a decisive turn when Coulibaly received two cautions within a four-minute span for fouls committed against Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi, respectively.
PSG restored parity in the game two minutes subsequently, as Desire Doue’s impressive run and cross facilitated Marquinhos to force the ball into the net.
The score became 2-1 just six minutes later, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia present to convert an easy tap-in after Philipp Kohn had spilled Hakimi’s shot.

Despite holding an aggregate lead of two goals, the tie still seemed far from decided, as Monaco maintained their offensive pressure. Simon Adingra’s cross was then converted by his fellow replacement, Jordan Teze, in the opening minute of added time.
Monaco then had a final opportunity, with Wout Faes narrowly missing out on forcing the match into an extended period after connecting with Lamine Camara’s lofted free-kick.
Courageous Juventus Narrowly Defeated in Turin
Galatasaray triumphed over a determined Juventus resurgence to guarantee their progression to the subsequent stage.
Having established a 5-2 lead in the initial leg in Istanbul, the Turkish squad appeared to be in command, even after a Manuel Locatelli penalty lessened the deficit. Lloyd Kelly’s dismissal three minutes into the second half looked to have extinguished the home side’s hopes, but additional goals by Federico Gatti and Weston McKennie forced the contest into an extended period.
Galatasaray capitalized on their numerical superiority during the added time. Victor Osimhen re-established their overall lead, and Baris Alper Yilmaz’s goal in the closing moments brought an end to a captivating encounter.
