The Super Bowl advertisements from Anthropic — which present humorously dark situations of individuals soliciting guidance from AI assistants, merely to be directed towards “cougar” dating sites and height-enhancing shoe inserts — are proving successful. In the subsequent days, Anthropic’s AI chatbot, Claude, has ascended from the 41st position on the U.S. App Store to reach the top 10 applications. By Friday, Claude held the 7th spot, its peak standing so far, indicating that its “advertisement-free” proposition deeply appeals to users.
Fresh insights supplied by the market analytics firm, Appfigures, reveal that the number of Claude downloads in the U.S. on both iOS and Android platforms reached an approximate figure of 148,000 between Sunday and Tuesday, representing the latest accessible figures. This represents a 32% rise compared to the prior three-day period, from Thursday to Saturday, during which downloads amounted to about 112,000.
The average daily download count for Claude between Sunday and Tuesday stood at 49,200, marking a 32% increase over the typical average for Sunday through Tuesday, which is 37,400 daily.
These figures imply that the Super Bowl advertisements by Anthropic, in conjunction with the recent launch of Anthropic’s Opus 4.6 model, succeeded in drawing interest to Claude’s application and its primary distinguishing feature from ChatGPT. ChatGPT, conversely, introduced advertisements to its complimentary user base this week, precisely as Anthropic’s campaigns had cautioned.
Consequently, Claude’s application is attracting greater notice compared to its initial mobile launch.

This AI application, geared towards consumers, was introduced on iOS in May 2024 to a rather lukewarm welcome. ChatGPT had preceded it in the mobile market, accumulating almost half a million installations within its initial five days. In contrast, Claude had merely garnered 157,000 overall global downloads during its inaugural week and failed to achieve a standing beyond the 55th position on the U.S. App Store.
On a worldwide scale, Claude also experienced some improvements this past week. The total global downloads for Claude, spanning both the App Store and Google Play, increased by 15% from Sunday through Tuesday when compared to the preceding Thursday through Saturday. Nevertheless, these gains represented less than half of those observed within the U.S., as Appfigures pointed out.
