ChatGPT is now reachable via your CarPlay dashboard, provided you have iOS 26.4 or a more recent version and the newest iteration of the ChatGPT app, 9to5Mac states. Apple’s recently unveiled iOS 26.4 update brought support for “voice-based conversational apps” within CarPlay, thereby facilitating the use of AI chatbots with vocal capabilities through Apple’s vehicle-integrated platform.
According to 9to5Mac, when ChatGPT is utilized through CarPlay, the application does not display textual exchanges; instead, users are restricted to engaging in spoken dialogues with it. (Apple’s developer guidelines mandate that applications should not present text or visual content as feedback.) However, the CarPlay app is not entirely without text, as it includes on-screen buttons to silence and terminate the discussion.
Furthermore, a record of your prior interactions with ChatGPT can be reviewed, as reported by MacRumors. However, you cannot employ a wake word to activate ChatGPT via CarPlay; instead, you must tap the application icon to launch it.
