TechCrunch has become aware that inDrive, an international ride-sharing enterprise distinguished by its auction-style fare system, has completed the acquisition of Krave Mart, a rapid-delivery nascent company based in Pakistan. This move signals its deepening engagement with foodstuff delivery and other retail operations across the South Asian region.

TechCrunch was informed by two individuals acquainted with the situation that this equity-based agreement, finalized in the previous year, has secured endorsement from the Competition Commission of Pakistan, thereby enabling the involved entities to move forward with the purchase. While inDrive verified the takeover, the company opted not to reveal the monetary conditions.

Established in 2021, Krave Mart functions as an emergent enterprise specializing in foodstuff dispatch, active across Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. This nascent firm dispatches provisions to customers within approximately half an hour, utilizing a chain of local distribution hubs.

This takeover forms a component of inDrive’s wider initiative to penetrate the foodstuff delivery sector, as its operations extend past car-sharing to encompass retail offerings. The firm, based in Mountain View, California, commenced foodstuff dispatch services initially in Kazakhstan in September 2025. It then extended the offering to Pakistan in January this year, via a collaborative agreement with Krave Mart, which itself had obtained funding from inDrive in December 2024.

The aforementioned funding originated from inDrive’s division dedicated to venture capital and corporate takeovers, established in November 2023. This arm was created with a mandate to allocate as much as $100 million during the upcoming years, aiming to strengthen the firm’s encompassing application approach.

Andries Smit, inDrive’s chief growth businesses officer, communicated via an email declaration: “We express satisfaction regarding the endorsement granted by the Competition Commission of Pakistan as our close collaboration persists with Krave Mart to broaden availability of expeditious and dependable foodstuff dispatch solutions nationwide, with the recent introduction in Lahore operating under the inDrive.Groceries label.”

He further stated that the Krave Mart and inDrive labels shall maintain operations within Karachi, while the firm broadens its foodstuff dispatch provision.

Broadening foodstuff dispatch services in Pakistan might face considerable challenges. As per an insider in the sector, Foodpanda holds a commanding presence in this market, having conducted operations nationwide for over ten years and receiving support from the German logistics conglomerate Delivery Hero. The insider remarked that rapid e-commerce usually demands substantial investment of both time and funds prior to achieving considerable financial returns, which poses an obstacle for emerging competitors to expand.

Per statistics furnished by Sensor Tower, inDrive stood as the globe’s second most frequently downloaded car-sharing application since the year 2022, accumulating in excess of 400 million installations. It also holds the position of the fourth most downloaded travel application universally, trailing Google Maps, Uber, and Waze. Furthermore, as reported by Sensor Tower, the application is the paramount car-sharing service download in nine nations, among them Peru, Panama, Egypt, Morocco, and Pakistan.

Maintaining operations within over one thousand urban centers spanning 48 global markets, inDrive possesses a vast foundation. This extensive presence aids its venture into novel offerings like foodstuff dispatch.
