Samsung is integrating AirDrop functionality into its Quick Share tool on Galaxy devices, commencing with the S26 series. This new AirDrop capability, as stated by Samsung, will begin its deployment in Korea today, with units in the US expected to receive the option later this week. Its availability will subsequently expand to a greater number of regions and Galaxy devices, encompassing the remainder of North America, Latin America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan.
Through this update, owners of Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra models will gain the ability to seamlessly transfer files to Apple devices via a rapid wireless connection. Consequently, Samsung becomes the second Android smartphone manufacturer to furnish integrated AirDrop capabilities on its products. This follows Google’s development of its own Android compatibility solution for AirDrop last year, accomplished independently of Apple. This specific functionality first appeared on the Pixel 10 series in November 2025, subsequently reaching the Pixel 9 series in February.
Integrated AirDrop functionality on Galaxy devices is not active automatically. To enable this function, users can access the Settings menu and select Connected devices > Quick Share > Share with Apple devices. Subsequently, an AirDrop activation switch will become visible, accompanied by a notification informing the user that both the Apple and Samsung devices must configure their sharing preferences to “Everyone” status for mutual file transmission.
