Jamieson Greer, the U.S. Trade Representative, appears on ‘Mornings with Maria’ to detail President Donald Trump’s updated worldwide duty approach and to caution commercial allies that action will follow.

Early Wednesday, Jamieson Greer, the U.S. Trade Representative, indicated that duties for certain nations might escalate, informing FOX Business that these could climb to 15% or beyond as President Trump maintains his pursuit of financial influence.

“Currently, we have the 10 percent levy; it will increase to 15 for certain parties, and then it might climb further for different ones,” Greer stated on “Mornings with Maria.”

“I believe it will be consistent with the forms of duties we’ve observed. We aim for consistency in this initiative,” he further commented.

These remarks emerge as U.S. commercial allies, including the European Union, have requested elucidation on the administration’s approach to enacting its updated duty approach, subsequent to a recent reversal by the Supreme Court.

Greer stated the administration is getting ready to initiate multiple inquiries under current trade mandates in the coming days and weeks, such as Section 301 examinations aimed at what he termed unjust commercial methods.

“Such instances involve people who employ involuntary servitude within their logistical networks,” Greer clarified, further stating that the U.S. would also scrutinize nations suspected of developing surplus industrial output and oversupplying American markets.

Through this procedure, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative would publish an official Federal Register announcement, initiate a period for public feedback, and conduct deliberations, providing nations a chance to tackle those issues prior to the implementation of further duties, he pointed out.

“We believe that the agreements we’ve reached with these parties generally aim to resolve, at least in part, some of the behaviors I’m discussing,” he commented.

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy deliberate on the Republican Party’s mid-term objectives following President Donald Trump’s notably lengthy State of the Union address on ‘Mornings with Maria.’

“With Indonesia, for instance, we will conduct an inquiry. We will examine surplus industrial output. We will scrutinize their activities in the fishing sector and related areas, and then we’ll perform that inquiry and compare it with their commitments and our assessment of the issue. Subsequently, we will decide what form of duty ought to be imposed,” he remarked.

“We anticipate consistency in our actions,” he affirmed.
