According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Cincinnati Bengals have chosen not to offer a tender to their restricted free agent quarterback, Jake Browning. He commenced as a starter in 10 matchups over three campaigns, filling in for Joe Burrow.
Browning, aged 29, is poised to enter free agency; however, the Bengals remain receptive to his return, as indicated by the source.
Browning held the role of the Bengals’ reserve signal-caller for the majority of the recent three campaigns. His standout phase occurred in 2023, where he substituted for an injured Burrow, aiding Cincinnati in securing victories in four of their concluding seven matchups.
The squad enlisted Browning once more in 2025 after Burrow sustained a turf toe ailment. During that tenure, Browning encountered difficulties. Subsequent to a victory in Week 2, he faltered significantly in the subsequent three weeks. He connected on 64.8% of his throws for 771 yards, along with six scoring passes and eight interceptions.
Prior to Week 6, the Bengals opted for an alteration, securing Joe Flacco in a deal with the Cleveland Browns. Browning concluded the campaign as the squad’s tertiary passer.
Browning dedicated a total of five campaigns with the Bengals. While he initially commenced his tenure on the practice roster, he earned a spot on the 53-man active roster for the recent three seasons.
