SINGAPORE — The Australian golfer, Hannah Green, once again triumphed at the HSBC Women’s World Championship, clinching a one-stroke victory on Sunday after fending off a rapidly closing American competitor, Auston Kim.
Green, the champion of the 2019 Women’s PGA Championship, concluded her performance with a 69. Her unsteady final nine holes, marked by three birdies and an equal number of bogeys, almost allowed Kim to seize the lead.
On the concluding hole, Green registered a bogey with a tap-in, culminating in a four-round total of 274, fourteen strokes under par, at the par-72 Sentosa Golf Club. This achievement secured her an additional championship in Singapore, having previously triumphed at the same location in 2024.
Kim delivered one of the day’s finest rounds, scoring a 67, propelled by an impressive six birdies and an eagle. Nevertheless, bogeys on the second hole and, crucially, the par-3 15th, curtailed her challenge, leaving her at 13-under 275, a mere stroke behind a somewhat struggling Green.
Minjee Lee, who had shared the lead with Green heading into Sunday’s decisive round, posted a disheartening even-par 72, having recorded three birdies and three bogeys. She concluded in a shared third position with Angel Yin (71) and France’s Pauline Roussin-Bouchard (68), each achieving a total of 277, eleven strokes under par.
The highly-ranked Jeeno Thitikul, who secured victory in the preceding week’s tournament held in her home country of Thailand, registered a 73 on Sunday. She concluded the event with a 2-under par total of 287, placing her in a shared 31st position. This put her a single stroke behind the reigning champion, Lydia Ko, who managed a 72.
This competition, involving 72 golfers and without a cut-off, marked the second of three destinations on the LPGA’s initial Asian leg of the tour. The concluding event is scheduled for the following week at Hainan Island, China.
