SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — ESPN’s Adam Schefter disclosed on Monday that the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks are set to be showcased in this summer’s “Hard Knocks,” a revelation made to teams during the NFL’s yearly summit.
Subsequently, during the summer of 2027, the New England Patriots are slated to appear on the enduring series crafted by NFL Films for HBO. This marks the debut for both organizations, who last faced off in Super Bowl LX, where the Seahawks secured a 29-13 win in Santa Clara, California.
Since its commencement in 2001 with the Baltimore Ravens, this marks the initial instance “Hard Knocks” will chronicle a reigning Super Bowl champion.
Led by third-year coach Mike Macdonald, the Seahawks aspire to emulate the Kansas City Chiefs — victors of Super Bowls LVII and LVIII in 2023 and 2024 — as the most recent consecutive champions.
Before the Chiefs, the New England Patriots were the previous club to achieve successive Super Bowl triumphs in 2003 and 2004.
The Seahawks recently secured wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the incumbent NFL Offensive Player of the Year, with a four-year, $168.6 million contract prolongation, establishing him as the most handsomely compensated wideout in NFL annals. Their roster also includes seasoned quarterback Sam Darnold and a largely unsung defensive unit that spearheaded their Super Bowl victory against the Patriots.
The Seahawks are slated to commence their 2026 standard campaign on September 9 at their home stadium. Their adversary remains undecided, with the Patriots emerging as a potential contender.
New England’s participation in “Hard Knocks” during 2027 highlights the increasing allure of the organization, guided by coach Mike Vrabel and budding star quarterback Drake Maye. The Patriots proved to be one of the NFL’s most significant revelations in 2025, achieving a 14-3 standing subsequent to two successive 4-13 campaigns.
