Todd Monken required merely 20 additional minutes.
This past Monday, the Cleveland Browns’ leading strategist was among a pair of coaches absent from the NFL’s yearly collective picture. While Monken failed to attend the group portrait, which is intended to include all 32 head coaches, his absence appeared to have a valid justification.
Per Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN, the picture was captured right after a coaches’ session, which Monken bypassed to get a fresh trim for the group portrait, slated for capture at noon.
The gathering, per accounts, concluded ahead of schedule.
While Monken proceeded to the designated spot for the image, Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach Liam Cohen paused to notify him that the picture had already occurred 20 minutes prior to their meeting.
Monken, nevertheless, had company. Sean McVay, the Los Angeles Rams’ head coach, was likewise absent from the picture.
The erstwhile Baltimore Ravens offensive strategist was engaged by the Browns organization in the first month of the year with a half-decade agreement, becoming their eleventh leading coach since rejoining the NFL in 1999. He succeeded Kevin Stefanski, who was dismissed on January 5th following half a dozen campaigns in Cleveland.
