Renowned pugilists Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are set to engage in a second encounter at the Sphere venue in Las Vegas this September, with the contest broadcasting globally via Netflix.
This upcoming match signals Mayweather’s comeback from his hiatus and is slated as the inaugural professional boxing event to take place at the Sphere.
Mayweather, boasting an unblemished 50-0 record with 27 knockouts, vanquished Pacquiao during their 2015 clash, famously known as the “Fight of the Century.”
The prior contest yielded an unprecedented 4.6 million pay-per-view purchases, along with a $72 million live attendance revenue at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
“I’ve already competed against and bested Manny previously. The outcome will remain unchanged this time around,” Mayweather, 48, stated in a declaration.
Pacquiao, whose professional ledger is 62-8-3 with 39 knockouts to his name, conveyed certainty that he would inflict Mayweather’s inaugural professional defeat.
“My desire is for Floyd to bear the sole blemish on his professional career and forever recall its source,” remarked the 47-year-old Filipino boxer.
This second bout will be broadcast to Netflix’s global audience of over 325 million members, thereby furthering the platform’s foray into live pugilism.
Lately, the digital platform has aired numerous prominent contests, such as the Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson bout, which, according to the corporation, attracted 108 million live international spectators.
