Lenovo is unveiling five fresh ThinkPads alongside a new ThinkBook notebook for MWC 2026. This collection of ThinkPads features numerous new processor options and enhancements, yet the model that particularly captivates me is the X13 Detachable. It has been quite some time since we witnessed a substantial overhaul for Lenovo’s tablet-style ThinkPad, back when it was known as the X12 Detachable.

The latest launches (and their initial costs) include:

In contrast to its forerunner, the X13 Detachable now features Intel Panther Lake processor choices and a more expansive 13-inch touch-sensitive display, boasting a 3:2 aspect ratio, 2880 x 1920 resolution, and a 120Hz variable refresh rate. Its detachable keyboard presents more sculpted, standard-sized keycaps and a considerably deeper 1.5mm key press depth—evoking the sensation of a keyboard directly transplanted from a genuine ThinkPad. Furthermore, its digitizer pen is now stored inside the keyboard, recharging through pogo connectors. This marks a welcome enhancement over the previous generation pen’s dependence on a AAAA battery and its tendency to dangle from the edge of the keyboard in a small fabric holder.

Concerning the other ThinkPad models, the latest ThinkPad T14 and T16 exhibit thinner frames around their displays compared to the previous generation. Both can be equipped with the most recent Intel and AMD processors (Panther Lake for Intel and Gorgon Point for AMD). Furthermore, the Intel variants employ LPCAMM2 RAM instead of conventional DDR5, a change expected to yield greater energy efficiency while preserving expandability and enhancing serviceability. On the topic of straightforward maintenance, the T14 and T16 also include customer-swappable power cells.

The freshly introduced ThinkPad T14S model stands as the most lightweight among the T-series ThinkPads so far, with a mass of 2.43 pounds / 1.1kg (less weighty than a MacBook Air). It is also the most versatile in configuration, as it will be available with Intel Panther Lake, AMD Gorgon Point, and even Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Plus or X2 Elite processors. The T14S is also available as a marginally weightier 2-in-1 variant, though that model will exclusively feature Intel Panther Lake processors. Likewise applies to the latest ThinkBook 14 2-in-1.

Each of these fresh notebooks comes pre-installed with Windows 11, but the ThinkPad T14, T14S, T16, and X13 Detachable will additionally be offered with Linux in certain territories (excluding the Qualcomm-based T14S, which operates on Windows on Arm). All of them are expected to release in Q2 of 2026, with the exception of the X13 Detachable, which is anticipated for debut in Q3.
