Pacheco, 27, served as the Kansas City Chiefs’ primary ball carrier for a significant portion of his tenure over the preceding four campaigns. Across 13 appearances during the prior season, Pacheco accumulated 462 yards on the ground and two overall scores.
Kansas City, however, concluded a pact with Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III to assume the role of their new lead rushing back.
The Chiefs drafted Pacheco as the 251st choice in the 2022 draft. In the initial stages of his time in Kansas City, Pacheco evolved into a crucial component of one of the organization’s most notable draft cohorts. Partway through his inaugural professional year, Pacheco secured the lead position ahead of Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who had been the Chiefs’ top-round selection in 2020.
Owing to his relentless running approach, Pacheco assisted the Chiefs in securing two consecutive Super Bowl victories, thereby aiding the franchise in establishing itself as the league’s freshest powerhouse.
A pivotal moment in Pacheco’s professional journey unfolded during Week 2 of the 2024 season. He was unable to complete the contest following a fractured fibula in his right leg, an ailment that compelled him to sit out 10 matches. Subsequent to that, he has not exhibited the same dynamism and explosiveness as he did throughout the 2023 campaign, during which he achieved a career-best 935 rushing yards and nine overall scores.
During the prior season, Pacheco, then in the concluding year of his initial professional agreement, failed to register even one ground attempt resulting in a gain of 20 yards or more.
ESPN’s Nate Taylor furnished information for this dispatch.
