This evening, Tiger Woods is set to make his comeback to professional play, though not on a conventional 18-hole outdoor course.
He will take part in the second match of the best-of-three TGL finals, representing his Jupiter Links team as they face Los Angeles in Palm Beach.
The 50-year-old had a spinal operation in October and has been absent from any physical tournament since the 2024 Open at Royal Troon, although he did participate in TGL last February.
However, he will join the Jupiter Links team, aiming to help them rebound after their defeat in the first match yesterday evening.
An update via X from TGL verified the news, stating concisely: “He’s back.”
Woods Yet to Discount Masters Return
This development has fueled optimism that Woods, a 15-time major championship victor, might participate in the Masters next month. Nevertheless, this remains a distant prospect, as Augusta’s hilly landscape presents a stark contrast to the indoor arena settings TGL players experience.
Last month, Woods stated that competing in the Masters is “not off the table,” yet he also detailed the challenge he confronts in regaining optimal health.
“I’ve been undergoing rehabilitation,” Woods, a five-time victor of the Green Jacket, remarked. “Sometimes I have good days, sometimes I have bad days. Disc replacement is quite arduous.”
Ailments Hinder Woods’ Illustrious Professional Journey
His most recent back procedure represents a continuation of the string of physical ailments that have afflicted the American in current times.
He suffered severe leg injuries during an automobile collision in 2021, underwent a spinal operation in September 2024, and then experienced a torn Achilles tendon in March 2025.
Woods further stated: “I’ve had numerous operations, so my body doesn’t quite recover as it did when I was 24. It doesn’t rebound quickly. Consequently, I have good days when I can engage in most activities, and other days where it’s challenging simply to ambulate.”
Last week, Woods acknowledged he was content leading the Jupiter Links team and wished not to “disrupt the roster.” However, he will now take the place of Kevin Kisner, partnering with Max Homa and Tom Kim. Another Jupiter Links player, Akshay Bhatia, is not present owing to his involvement in the Indian Open in Delhi.
LA’s roster will feature Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, as well as Sahith Theegala.
