The Administration of Mexico City has unveiled Xoli, a virtual assistant poised to offer details regarding amenities, travel, and cultural activities. Presently, it can be accessed through WhatsApp in both English and Spanish.

This digital system was conceived to cater to the needs of the vast number of tourists anticipated to visit for the duration of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Nevertheless, officials guarantee that this utility will continue to operate even after the athletic spectacle concludes, with the objective of fostering commercial endeavors and simplifying interaction with governmental amenities within the metropolis.

During a media briefing, Clara Brugada, who leads Mexico City’s administration, affirmed that Xoli “is set to become the digital mechanism enabling the connection of cultural aspects, travel experiences, leisure, and amusement with the populace.”

Converse With Xoli

This utility was wholly created by the city’s administration, emerging from the joint efforts of the Digital Agency for Public Innovation and the city’s Departments of Tourism and Culture.

The virtual assistant is presently accessible on handheld gadgets and is slated to function without interruption, around the clock, every day of the week. To engage with it, one simply needs to launch WhatsApp, initiate a conversation with the digit sequence 55 6565 9395, and transmit the greeting “Hola.”

Xoli (articulated sho-lee) will promptly inquire about your preference to proceed in either English or Spanish. Once the favored language is chosen, individuals can navigate a directory offering diverse information types, such as cultural insights, travel guidance, culinary options, and transportation details, or merely pose an inquiry regarding any aspect of the metropolis.

Concerning the upcoming 2026 World Cup, a dedicated segment will furnish particulars concerning the tournament, encompassing unique happenings, game specifics, live viewings of matches in public areas, and avenues for acquiring entry passes.

The metropolitan administration emphasized that this innovation aids in establishing the metropolis as “a more pioneering and approachable urban center,” through accelerating the retrieval of authoritative data, providing prompt replies, and reinforcing approaches to boost travel.

Alejandra Frausto, who helms Mexico City’s Department of Tourism, noted that nearly 3,000 travel, leisure, and cultural engagements occur each day within the capital. During peak periods, this count can surge to 5,000 occurrences daily. “Converting this raw data into dependable and readily available information demands considerable exertion, yet it has become feasible due to this virtual assistant,” she remarked.

A Commendable Initiative

Xoli’s introduction contributes to the technological endeavors spearheaded by the national administration, aiming to transform the forthcoming World Cup into a catalyst for progress across trade, athletics, travel, and cultural sectors nationwide.

Toward the end of the previous year, Mexican head of state Claudia Sheinbaum unveiled the Mexico 2026 Social World Cup strategy, which mandates over 177 celebrations and 5,000 engagements connected to the championship, in addition to 74 competitions and football challenges targeting scholars, employees, and the broader populace. Furthermore, the initiative encompasses approximately 1,500 undertakings under the Vive Saludable (Live Healthy) campaign, designed to foster wholesome living, alongside the restoration of 4,200 communal athletic grounds and areas.

Included among the declared measures is the development of the Conoce México application produced collaboratively by the Agency for Digital Transformation and Telecommunications (ATDT) and the Department of Tourism. This application will enable enthusiasts, both domestic and international, to obtain current details regarding games, locations, itineraries, amenities, and cultural happenings.
